Map reloading in intervals

Status

closed

Resolution

open

Priority

high

Severity

major

Steps to reproduce

Just start Turf

Description

Very often the map is continuously reloading with a few seconds in between, but not every time I am in Turf. The map reloads on both wifi and 3G. To be clear, it is not when panning or zooming, but when not touching the device. The big problem with this is a very high data usage. Problem visualized on a Nexus 7: www.hashcookie.net/uploads/...

As the Turf developers is working on implementing a new version of Google maps in the Android app, this issue may become invalid in a future version of the app.

I didn't notice this post earlier when I reported #168. Because of this and the 1 GB of data / month that I have in my plan I can't really play the game much..

I switched to HTC One a few days ago. I do not think this was a problem before that. (Previous phone HTC Desire S) About 4 Gb in three days is far to much.

The problem is not present all the time. I've tried to reproduce it but it seems to show up a bit randomly. Stonescape report that's occurring on his Nexus 7, I have an N7 myself but I haven't found this bug anytime on that platform. My new Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be affected however. My Galaxy S2 wasn't affected either. Here is a short clip displaying the issue on a Galaxy S4: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLC...

The map is constantly reloding on both wifi and mobile. When using 4G it reloads even faster! Turf alone managed to use 750MB in one and a half hour of turf.

I have the exact same issue as seen in afCee's video above on my brand new Padfone Infinity. Besides being very annoying to look at, the data consumption rockets within a few minutes. Turf essentially not possible to use on this phone until fixed :-(
