Version: 2.1.20 - beta release
I have reinstalled the app including taking it out of the beta but all options have the same problem.

I also run 2.1.20 and can't reproduce it. Have you checked all power saving settings? Do you have the same behaviour in other map apps (like Google maps)?

Thanks for the quick response. I've checked all of the power settings and set them to as unrestricted as possible. Updated the phone in case that was the problem and reinstalled the app, deleted its data etc. When I look at the map on Turfgame.com my avatar disappears around a minute after switching away from the Turf app. It doesn't matter if the screen sleeps or not. As soon as I switch back to the Turf app the avatar reappears maybe 5 seconds later. I wondered if it might be connected to the new way Android 14 is freezing cached apps? android-developers.googlebl....

I have the same problem, and I can see in the chat for my region that others are also affected. Probably everyone with Android 14.

Version: 2.1.20 - beta release
Device: Google – Pixel 6 – Android 14
Normally I'd pocket Turf with a Garmin watch notifying me when I enter and take a zone. This is no longer possible - if I take a zone (with the app open), hit the power button to turn off the screen, stick the phone in my pocket - when I arrive at the next zone and turn my screen back on, I'll have a full bar for the previous zone, my avatar will be at the previous zone. It'll take several seconds for GPS to kick in and my avatar to relocate to my real location. And of course, if I leave the screen off this never happens and I won't take the zone.

Can you try the latest betaversion and see if that helps?

Version: Other version (please tell us!)

Yes that's done it. You can now select Location permissions to "Always" whereas before it was "While Using App". When changed to "Always" this seems to have fixed it. Thank you!
